The radio spectrum is one of the
preferred mediums for providing telephone services in both
developing and established markets because of its ease of
implementation and use in the mobile telephony environment.
Regulatory authorities are placing operators under pressure each
year to utilize the same amount of allocated radio bandwidth to
carry more users, thus requiring more efficient use of the radio
spectrum. In addition to this primary need, the demand for
efficiency must not adversely affect the system performance; in
this case the operating range of the radio links.
This project will evaluate and
identify a range of modem technology options. Initially this will
be done through computer simulation and finally through practical
implementation and integration into an existing range of digital
radio equipment to prove that the required performance advantages
have been achieved. |
