The project deals with the
establishment and piloting of innovative analytical methods and
Decision Support Systems (DSS) tools which can be applied at
various levels within South
African Police Services (SAPS) - each with its own information
requirements. The project focuses on specific needs identified in
previous crime prevention projects. The project would provide
procedures and methods for:
-
automated pin-mapping of
crime scenes;
-
crime forecasting
methodologies;
-
optimal allocation of
resources (manpower, vehicles, etc.);
-
DSS tools for crime
detection and tactical purposes;
-
analysis to explain crime;
-
Maintenance of international
networks.
