Frequently asked questions

Q: Can an inventor qualify for funding from the Innovation Fund? A: Yes, he can qualify, but it would be more advantageous for his application to be part of a consortium within which a variety of in-house research and development capacity, and financial cash reserves, are vested.
Q: I want to set up a facility or centre that specialises in skills training for the people of South Africa. Would such a facility get any assistance? A: The establishment of a centre or facility, as such, does not usually fall within the ambit of the Innovation Fund and other Funds should be approached.
Q: How long does it take to complete the evaluation of a proposal? A: It normally takes six months to finalise a short list of applications that can be supported under a particular round of the Innovation Fund.
